American Idol Hollywood Auditions

I have a hard time following shows week to week because my work schedule is different every week but I'm really going to try to watch American Idol this year. I have 3 favorite contestants so far: Andrew Garcia, Haeley Vaughn, and Michael Lynche.

Andrew: Dad of a toddler son who has a sort of Jason Mraz feel. Very good voice and also very loveable.

Haeley: A 16 year old who has a country/pop feel. Very bubbly personality and you can't help but just love her.

Michael: A big teddy bear. He did his Hollywood auditions when his wife was in labor with their first child and did very well!

Here are their videos:

Puppy

I want a puppy. Or really any animal for that matter. I have a dilemma though.
I am really against breeding animals. There are way too many animals in shelters that are perfectly wonderful pets that need homes. I think it's so ridiculous to pay tons of money for an animal when you could get one at a shelter. I do realize there are benefits to owning a pure-bred animal (supposedly less health issues, etc.) but there are so many animals that you can get from a shelter that live perfectly healthy lives.
That said, I am in love with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. IN. LOVE. This poses a problem for me, because most likely I will not be able to find one in a shelter. I will not pay hundreds of dollars for one; I refuse. I'm hoping that maybe I will be able to find one that someone is giving away (it certainly does not have to be full breed). I mean, come on, look at this face!

Even though this dog is so beautiful and precious, I still think I'd be perfectly be happy to find a fuzzy, scruffy mutt like this little guy who was in the movie Hotel for Dogs, who I fell in love with.

Cute right? Before you go and pay a lot of money for an animal, go visit a shelter and give a sweet, homeless animal a chance!

SuperBowl!

One of the many bad things about working the night shift is that I miss a lot of good prime-time tv! Including pretty much all good college football games and now the SuperBowl! Man, I wish I could go back to 11th grade when I was in freaking DisneyWorld eating chicken fingers and a banana daquiri (virgin of course) at Planet Hollywood with all of my dorian friends watching the Superbowl. BOO! Well tonight I don't get to watch my love Peyton Manning and my NOLA loves the Saints square off. This stinks. I love the Saints, but I love Peyton Manning even more so....GO COLTS!

Work

Since I work the night shift at the hospital, I usually get there at 6:45 at night and don't usually leave in the morning till about 7:40-8:00. Right now I should be getting ready for work but they called me and said "You're on call till 11:00. Call up to the floor at 10:00 and they'll let you know if you need to come in or not." That's so annoying. So now, I am just going to be waiting around until 10 to see if I just wasted my time sitting around not making plans and doing nothing or I have to go to work super tired. Wow my options are GREAT! Either way, it's not such a great scenario. I didn't go to med school because being on call sucks. That didn't work out so well for me did it? Well, if I do have to go in, I'm sure there will be a funny story of some patient doing something crazy, so I will share later!

Hi!

I feel like life is going by really fast. I used to journal, but I stopped once I came to college, which I really wish I hadn't. So, I'm going to start 2010 off by trying to keep up with life but in a faster way...blogging! It doesn't really matter if no one reads it or people think I'm boring, but I need to do this for my own sake. Also, I thought I could share some funny nursing stories on here (no names, etc. involved though of course due to patient confidentiality).
