BEACH!

Thomas and I have been talking about going to the beach forever now and when I saw that my favorite country singer Jason Aldean was coming to The Wharf at Orange Beach, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to go!
However, after I bought tickets and everything is when we heard about the big oil spill. I was pretty bummed that we wouldn't be able to go at least walking on the beach while we were there but we were staying at Perdido Beach Resort and we knew they had a great pool so we were going to make the most of it.
Driving in on Friday, we couldn't believe how many big boats we saw trying to help with the oil clean-up!

The sunset when we arrived was AMAZING!

We were so happy to be there!

Friday night we ate at Louisiana Lagniappe after it was suggested to us by Thomas' Aunt Meg. It was WONDERFUL! Thomas got the house special which we couldn't quite figure out what it was and I had crab cakes and shrimp and and twice baked potato! It was great ambiance and great food and great company :)
We then went back to the hotel and got ready and went to the FloraBama which was the first time for both of us! It was great! (definitely Thomas' kind of place!)
They had a great band; very much like Trotline but better because they played rock 'crowd-pleasers' as well as country. We had so much fun dancing!
Then we couldn't resist and went 'night swimming' when we got back!

Saturday we made the most of the only full day we had there and stuffed our faces with a delicious breakfast buffet at the hotel and headed out to the beach. There was NO sign of oil anywhere!!! I was amazed! The water was very clear and the beach looked perfectly clean. I think where we were had something to do with the cleanliness of the beach because we were so close to the bay!

Thomas' entertainment:

My entertainment:

There was no breeze which made it really hot so we only lasted down there for an hour or so before we headed back up to the pool (and about scorched our feet in the hot sand!) I wish I had a video of Thomas running as fast as he could with his cooler in hand!
The pool was great but we were definitely about the only ones there around our age group; it was mostly families but we didn't mind! We just had fun floating and trying the swing dance in the water to the band that was playing on the deck (not so easy!) :)

Later that afternoon we went back out on the beach for about an hour and swam. We saw a baby shark (I about had a heart attack), stingray and tons of hermit crabs on the large rocks that separated the bay. That was a time that I really wish I had a water-proof camera! I could have stayed out there till the sun set and I wish we could've but we had the concert that night!

We went to dinner at Rum Runners and then went to the concert!

Love me some Jason Aldean!

I am so thankful for having the next few weekends off for my birthday/July 4th and then Thomas and my 6th year anniversary! Can't wait!

American Idol Hollywood Auditions

I have a hard time following shows week to week because my work schedule is different every week but I'm really going to try to watch American Idol this year. I have 3 favorite contestants so far: Andrew Garcia, Haeley Vaughn, and Michael Lynche.

Andrew: Dad of a toddler son who has a sort of Jason Mraz feel. Very good voice and also very loveable.

Haeley: A 16 year old who has a country/pop feel. Very bubbly personality and you can't help but just love her.

Michael: A big teddy bear. He did his Hollywood auditions when his wife was in labor with their first child and did very well!

Here are their videos:

Puppy

I want a puppy. Or really any animal for that matter. I have a dilemma though.
I am really against breeding animals. There are way too many animals in shelters that are perfectly wonderful pets that need homes. I think it's so ridiculous to pay tons of money for an animal when you could get one at a shelter. I do realize there are benefits to owning a pure-bred animal (supposedly less health issues, etc.) but there are so many animals that you can get from a shelter that live perfectly healthy lives.
That said, I am in love with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. IN. LOVE. This poses a problem for me, because most likely I will not be able to find one in a shelter. I will not pay hundreds of dollars for one; I refuse. I'm hoping that maybe I will be able to find one that someone is giving away (it certainly does not have to be full breed). I mean, come on, look at this face!

Even though this dog is so beautiful and precious, I still think I'd be perfectly be happy to find a fuzzy, scruffy mutt like this little guy who was in the movie Hotel for Dogs, who I fell in love with.

Cute right? Before you go and pay a lot of money for an animal, go visit a shelter and give a sweet, homeless animal a chance!

SuperBowl!

One of the many bad things about working the night shift is that I miss a lot of good prime-time tv! Including pretty much all good college football games and now the SuperBowl! Man, I wish I could go back to 11th grade when I was in freaking DisneyWorld eating chicken fingers and a banana daquiri (virgin of course) at Planet Hollywood with all of my dorian friends watching the Superbowl. BOO! Well tonight I don't get to watch my love Peyton Manning and my NOLA loves the Saints square off. This stinks. I love the Saints, but I love Peyton Manning even more so....GO COLTS!

Work

Since I work the night shift at the hospital, I usually get there at 6:45 at night and don't usually leave in the morning till about 7:40-8:00. Right now I should be getting ready for work but they called me and said "You're on call till 11:00. Call up to the floor at 10:00 and they'll let you know if you need to come in or not." That's so annoying. So now, I am just going to be waiting around until 10 to see if I just wasted my time sitting around not making plans and doing nothing or I have to go to work super tired. Wow my options are GREAT! Either way, it's not such a great scenario. I didn't go to med school because being on call sucks. That didn't work out so well for me did it? Well, if I do have to go in, I'm sure there will be a funny story of some patient doing something crazy, so I will share later!

Hi!

I feel like life is going by really fast. I used to journal, but I stopped once I came to college, which I really wish I hadn't. So, I'm going to start 2010 off by trying to keep up with life but in a faster way...blogging! It doesn't really matter if no one reads it or people think I'm boring, but I need to do this for my own sake. Also, I thought I could share some funny nursing stories on here (no names, etc. involved though of course due to patient confidentiality).
